The Best Headphones for Long Flights

Let’s face it, the headphones that airlines will provide you with do not work period. Unfortunately, we have been in the situation of trying to use the complementary ones and it is absolute torture.

Before our first international trip together to Barcelona, we did some headphone research. We decided to purchase two pairs (one silver, one black) of the Sony WH-1000XM4. They are wireless, over-the-ear, noise canceling, and have a microphone which works great if you have to answer a phone call. We absolutely LOVE our Sony headphones! Purchased in a Best Buy, they have been one of our top traveling investments. The price of $350 USD is worth it in our opinion for the comfort, style, durability, and overall features.

These headphones easily connect via Bluetooth to our phones. We have not had the opportunity to connect them to certain airline’s tablets or screens via Bluetooth, but they come with an AUX cord to plug them in which works out perfectly. The headphones also come in a nice protective case that holds the AUX cord and charger and makes it easy to carry. Although the case is rather big, we typically just clip it to the outside of our backpacks.

We are so much happier when we have our Sony headphones! The battery charge lasts so long, we’ve never had an issue of them dying (unless they weren’t fully charged beforehand).

Always remember to charge your headphones BEFORE the flight so they are full and ready to go! We hope our experience helps with your decision-making if you’re looking into upgrading your travel gear.
